Diameter på et N-ært tre

Diameteren til et N-ært tre er den lengste banen som finnes mellom to noder i treet. Disse to nodene må være to bladnoder. Følgende eksempler har den lengste banen[diameter] skyggelagt.

Forutsetning: Diameteren til et binært tre .
 
Banen kan enten starte fra en av nodene og gå opp til en av LCAene til disse nodene og igjen komme ned til den dypeste noden til et annet undertre eller kan eksistere som en diameter av en av underordnet til gjeldende node. 

Løsningen vil eksistere i en av disse:
